Medjugorje
Medjugorje, one of the world's largest Marian centers, is a place visited everyday by numerous pilgrims from around the globe. The phenomenon of Medjugorje has begun in the summer of far off 1981, when the Queen of Peace appeared in this Herzegovinian place on the 24th of June according to the testimony of six children. Peace is a summary all her messages, it is a condition in which all the messages given in Medjugorje are finding their fulfillment. Through visionaries the Queen of Peace is giving monthly messages to believers in which tens of thousands of believers are looking for hope, salvation and the fulfillment of their prayers and hopes.
Medjugorje is a unique phenomenon in the modern world attracting millions of pilgrims from all over the world to this karstic Herzegovinian place.
According to some studies, it is assumed that Medjugorje has been visited by 35 million people in the last 33 years, what any other tourist center in Bosnia and Herzegovina and wider failed to achieve.
As one of the mighty fruits of Medjugorje I see the perception and experience of man as a person, God as God. In Medjugorje we experience faith clearly as a personal relationship between God and man.
Medjugorje has developed tourism and has become an inevitable destination with rich religious and prayer content for millions of pilgrims from all over the world with the apparition of the Queen of Peace.
Numerous seminars and festivals are held in Medjugorje throughout the year, and among them we must emphasize the Youth Festival already taking place in Medjugorje over the past 20 years. “Atthe time of festival young people around the world pray, sing, testify about their faith, take part in the procession and adoration, socialize and discuss.”
The Youth Festival is held every year in the first days the month of August and during this festival Medjugorje is the world center of youth from which the messages of peace, love and faith are sent to the world. The pilgrims who come to Medjugorje, along with the unavoidable visit the Apparition Hill and Cross Mountain/Križevac, have an opportunity to visit several interesting destinations in the Shrine.
